Amazon has unveiled the first trailer for My Spy The Eternal City, a sequel to the family action comedy My Spy. The original film, starring Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman, gained unexpected popularity during the Covid pandemic in 2020. Initially picked up from STXfilms during the theatrical shutdown, the film introduced audiences to JJ, a hardened CIA operative, and Sophie, a precocious nine-year-old girl. Bautista played JJ, who was sent undercover to surveil Sophie's family. The film, written by Jon and Erich Hoeber and directed by Pete Segal, became the third most-watched film on SVOD that year.
Plot In My Spy The Eternal City, Sophie, now a teenager, persuades JJ to chaperone her school choir trip to Italy. During the trip, they become involved in an international terrorist plot. The plot targets CIA Chief David Kim and his son, Collin, who is also Sophie's best friend. Ken Jeong plays David Kim, and Taeho K plays Collin. Kristen Schaal reprises her role from the first film, and new cast members include Anna Faris, Craig Robinson, Flula Borg, and K.
