Prime Video announced the film's digital release via social media, stating, «Aaj ki taaza khabar, Bad Newz is now streaming on Prime Video.» The film's OTT debut comes approximately two months after its theatrical release, continuing its journey from cinemas to homes worldwide.
Released on July 19, Bad Newz received mixed reviews from critics but was well-received by audiences. According to Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 113 crore globally during its box office run.
Bad Newz is inspired by a rare real-life phenomenon known as heteropaternal superfecundation, where twins are conceived by sperm from two different fathers. In the film, Saloni Bagga (played by Triptii Dimri) discovers she is pregnant with twins from two different men, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk. This unusual situation sparks a humorous rivalry between the two men as they vie for Saloni's affection and navigate the chaos that ensues.
Heteropaternal superfecundation is a rare occurrence where twins are conceived by sperm from two separate men. This happens when a woman ovulates multiple eggs and has intercourse with different partners in a short span. Though it can occur naturally, it is extremely uncommon, estimated to occur in less than 1% of twin pregnancies.
