A user named biryanikaghulam started the discussion with a post titled, «Why Delhiites are usually hyper-aggressive? Your thoughts?» They attempted to explore historical reasons behind this perception.
The user pointed out Delhi’s turbulent past, suggesting that repeated destruction and rebuilding may have influenced the temperament of its people. “This doesn't justify the aggressive or rude behaviour but maybe I believe somewhere explains it. Delhi 7 baar ujdi aur phir se bani hai, kayi naam badle (Delhi has been destroyed and rebuilt seven times, with many names along the way) — Indraprastha, Mehrauli, Qila Rai Pithora, Siri, Tughlaqabad, Jahanpanah, Ferozabad, Dinpanah, Shahjahanabad (Old Delhi), Dhillika, Dilli, and finally Delhi,” they wrote.
The user also shared their personal experience in Bengaluru, where they felt a noticeable dislike towards people from Delhi. “I have recently been to Bangalore and the hate for Delhi people is quite real. We are infamously known as rude and uncultured. Again, not defending the behaviour. Just curious to know your opinion on this subject matter,” they added.
