The incident, which left Ravindra with a bloodied face, happened in the 38th over when he misjudged Khushdil Shah's catch and the ball hit his face. He was positioned at deep backward square leg when Shah hit the powerful shot towards him. It has raised concerns of adequate floodlights at the stadium. Many fans attributed the mishap to the poor lighting conditions.
Ravindra has received immediate medical care on the field and later underwent a Head Injury Assessment (HIA), which he initially passed. He will continue to be monitored as per HIA protocols.
Following the incident, he was escorted off the field by the New Zealand team's medical staff for further treatment.
