Oppenheimer’ has beaten ‘Barbie’ black and blue at the Indian box-office! The Christopher Nolan magnum opus has opened to a whopping Rs 13.5 crore in India, according to box-office collection tracking portal Sacnilk.com. The Cillian Murphy-Emily Blunt starrer is expected to earn a further Rs 15 crore on July 22. If it manages to do that, the collection will be an impressive Rs 28 crore. On the other hand, Greta Gerwig’s ‘pink n pretty’ satire on gender roles and societal stereotypes has found little to no takers in India. Sacnilk reported that the Ryan Gosling-Margot Robbie starrer managed to earn a paltry Rs 5 crore on day one. The comedy-drama may collect Rs 6 crore on the second day, bringing it to an average of Rs 11 crore.

According to a Deadline report, ‘Barbie’ collected a staggering $41.4 million on Thursday (July 21) across 51 markets. In contrast, ‘Oppenheimer’ earned a respectable but still much lower $15 million through 57 markets.
