brands and retailers including ecommerce platforms are advancing their end-of-season sale events by 7-10 days, in a rush to clear unsold inventories and notch-up revenue that remained under pressure for most part of the year.
Some brands said the year-end online discounts in categories like apparel, electronics and mobile phones would be among the highest this year, next only to the festive season deals. Most of the apparel brands have already started offering hefty discounts on their seasonal line-up of winter wear in brick-and-mortar stores, which they usually do towards December-end, they said.
«Even though winter is yet to fully set in even in the North, most brands are not taking chances and have started their end-of-season sales as winters have become short and they want to sell out the merchandise in time,» said Woodland managing director Harkirat Singh.
Woodland, Reliance Trends, Levi's, Ajio, Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, Jiomart and Urban Ladder have started their sale events.
The earlier-than-usual year-end sales come after the festive season turned out to be a mixed bag for brands and retailers.
