Big military fallout: Norwegian energy firm halts fuel supply to US Navy fleet amid Donald Trump and JD Vance clash with Zelensky
marine fuel firm Haltbakk Bunkers has halted its fueling of US warships after a heated and public exchange between Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky, US president Donald Trump, and vice president JD Vance at the White House on Friday, as per a report.
Strong protest against the White House meeting
Haltbakk Bunkers, a private fuel behemoth that serves US Navy ships visiting Norwegian ports, posted on social media to protest against the White House meeting, which it called a «s***show,» reported Daily Mail.
In a Facebook post, which is now deleted, the company wrote that it was «Huge credit to the president of Ukraine for restraining himself and for keeping calm even though USA put on a backstabbing TV show,» quoted Daily Mail. The post had also mentioned that «As a result, we have decided to immediately STOP as fuel provider to American forces in Norway,» quoted Daily Mail.
Haltbakk Bunkers' CEO defends decision
CEO of Haltbakk Bunkers Gunnar Gran justified the move, stating that the company was merely adhering to its «moral compass.» He confirmed the action with Norwegian media, stating they had also terminated business with Russian clients in opposition to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which affected revenue but was consistent with their values, according to the report.
Gran said, «As you probably understand, not a litre will be delivered until Trump is finished… We run a private limited company and choose our customers!» as quoted by Daily Mail.
