The selection of the BJP's candidate for the Chandigarh seat followed a deliberative process. The city party unit forwarded the names of former MP Satya Pal Jain, along with ex-party presidents Sanjay Tandon and Arun Sood, to the party's high command for consideration. This move came after Manthri Srinivasulu, the general secretary (organisation) for Punjab and Chandigarh, conducted individual meetings with local leaders and councillors on February 26 to gauge their preferences for the seat.
