general polls, the BJP in Uttar Pradesh will, in the coming days, welcome back thousands of its party members who had been ousted during the urban local body polls over being denied tickets.
Nearly 5,000 members, including former ward members and councillors, had either quit or been ousted before the polls that were held in May this year, according to party sources. While those who had been ousted were ousted for six years, sources said the state leadership has decided to have the members back.
A start was made in this direction on Monday with a clutch of former councillors, mayor and mayoral candidates from Lucknow rejoining the BJP as part of the first phase of such joinings.
