Despite not releasing a solo album since 2016’s 24K Magic, Mars has managed to maintain his dominance on the platform through a series of successful collaborative singles, continuing to captivate global audiences, according to a report published by Variety.
His latest achievements are largely driven by his hit single "Die With a Smile," a mid-tempo duet with Lady Gaga released in August 2024. The track has been a massive success, racking up nearly 1.7 billion streams on Spotify. It also became Mars' ninth number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100, opening the year in the top spot and keeping its momentum well beyond its release.
Mars' collaborative success didn’t stop there. In October, his partnership with K-pop sensation Rosé on the track «Apt.» surged past the billion-stream mark, peaking at No. 5 on the Hot 100.
The song further solidified his place at the top of Spotify’s charts, and this milestone was celebrated with the release of “Fat Juicy & Wet,” an R-rated track featuring Sexyy Red. The song’s music video brings together many of Mars' recent collaborators, including Lady Gaga and Rosé, as they throw a festive party.
