India will also give support to develop domestic manufacturing capacities to integrate the economy with global supply chains and make India ‘aatmanirbhar’. The budgetary allocation for production-linked incentive schemes for textiles, auto and electronics also got a major boost. The measures are crucial as India wants manufacturing to gain a 25% share of gross domestic product from 15-16% now.
The proposed `100-crore ‘National Manufacturing Mission: Furthering Make in India’ will cover small, medium and large industries. The mission will focus on five areas: ease and cost of doing business, future-ready workforce for in-demand jobs, a vibrant and dynamic MSME sector, availability of technology, and quality products. It will provide policy support, execution of roadmaps, governance and monitoring framework for the manufacturing sector to promote Make in India.
