Canada has said it will conduct its first-ever category-based Express Entry selection for newcomers with work experience in the transport sector.
The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) unveiled significant changes to Canada's Express Entry system, focusing on category-based selection to address labor shortages and bolster economic objectives. This initiative aims to invite candidates possessing specific work experience or proficiency in the French language to apply for permanent residence.
Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, announced the launch of the first round of invitations, geared towards transport occupations within the Express Entry framework.
This move is aimed to attract skilled individuals with backgrounds in the transport sector, encompassing commercial truck drivers, pilots, and aircraft assembly workers. The goal is to infuse the industry with the skilled workforce required to serve the nation effectively.
“Category-based selection helps us invite newcomers with experience in transport occupations to fill significant labour gaps and ensure the future success of the Canadian transport sector," Miller said.
«I look forward to welcoming more skilled workers to our country, as their knowledge and expertise are invaluable, to meet our labour market needs,” he added.
Canada's revamped Express Entry system is now finely tuned to facilitate a swift and efficient route for individuals with expertise in critical fields.
