Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced the decision on Wednesday, emphasizing that the legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj serves as an inspiration to many. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had earlier declared the film tax-free in his state on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 395th birth anniversary. Addressing a gathering in Jabalpur, he underscored the significance of Chhaava in educating people about the patriotism and sacrifices of Sambhaji Maharaj.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde attended a special screening of the film and lauded its depiction of historical events. When asked about making the film tax-free in Maharashtra, Shinde stated that the government would take the necessary steps.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, Chhaava features Vicky Kaushal in the lead role, with Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in key roles. Since its release on February 14, the film has been a box office success, crossing the Rs 200 crore mark.
