Kansas City Chiefs' Super Bowl parade on Wednesday, a shooting took place, leaving 22 people injured, including eight children, and one person dead. The victim, identified as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a DJ for Kansas City's KKFI, was among those hit by gunfire, the radio station confirmed.
“This senseless act has taken a beautiful person from her family and this KC Community,” the station said in a statement.
«She was a local DJ. She did everybody's weddings. We all know her. She was so full of life,» her friends and family told the Kansas City Star.
Lisa Lopez-Galvan, known as «Lisa G» in the DJ world, was not just a DJ but a vibrant extrovert and a dedicated mother. Described by her childhood friends Rosa Izurieta and Martha Ramirez as a cherished member of a prominent Latino family in the area, Lopez-Galvan attended the parade with her husband and adult son, both of whom were also present and injured in the shooting.
The shooting occurred outside Union Station despite a heavy police presence, with more than 800 officers in the area. Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves reported that three suspects were taken into custody, and firearms were recovered, though the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
