Tata Starbucks has opened its island store surrounded by the vistas of Arabian Sea in the coastal town of Alibaug in an attempt to serve high-quality Arabica coffees to local customers and meet the demand from global travellers to the city, the JV announced on Thursday.
Located at a vantage spot at the M2M Ferry Terminal in Alibaug, the new store will present Starbucks coffees sourced and brewed from around the world, the coffeehouse said in a release, adding that its menu will also feature favourite Indian beverages including South Indian Filter Coffee, Masala Chai, and Elaichi Chai.
The seaside town has had tremendous growth in both infrastructure and economic development over the years, making it a popular weekend retreat and more so like a second home for the Mumbaikars.
These elements, as the coffee giant believes, have increased consumer demand for fine dining and beverage experiences, opening the door for Tata Starbucks' first store in Alibaug.
The first Starbucks Island store is spread across 2,500 sq. ft.
promising a 'distinct Third Place' experience to its customers.
Sushant Dash, CEO, of TATA Starbucks finds that the island store is a unique concept driven by efforts to meet consumer preferences.
«From introducing local innovations to expanding into diverse store formats, like drive-thrus and 24x7 locations, we've consistently strived to make the Starbucks experience more accessible to coffee enthusiasts in India,» Dash added.
Starbucks has opened 71 new locations in 15 cities in India in the last year, bringing its total number of operating locations in the market to 370 and boasting to serve 40,000 clients per week.
