As per the report, the young recruits are working in influential positions within US federal agencies. These young individuals, many with ties to Elon Musk, hold positions that impact key government operations, raising questions about their experience and access.
The recruits are reportedly part of Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an initiative aimed at reforming government functions. These young engineers and tech enthusiasts have gained access to sensitive information and high-level discussions within agencies like the General Services Administration (GSA) and the US Treasury, which manages the country’s $6 trillion budget. Some have even obtained “A-suite” clearance.
One recruit, a freshman at a major university, is already participating in calls with GSA employees, who are now required to justify their work to him. The backgrounds of these recruits often include experience at Musk-affiliated ventures like SpaceX, Neuralink, and Twitter, or connections to Peter Thiel's fellowship program. Examples include a former Twitter engineer now advising the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and an AI startup founder in a strategic advisory role.
Critics are concerned about the potential security risks and lack of oversight associated with granting these young individuals access to sensitive systems. They question the recruits' ability to handle the responsibilities of managing critical government areas. Musk and his allies maintain that their access is “read-only,”
