The Congress is hoping to make some gains after failing to win any seats in the last two elections.
Several exit polls had suggested the BJP had an edge over the AAP, which has been in power in Delhi since 2015. In response, AAP leaders have accused the BJP of trying to create a favorable narrative through exit polls, while allegedly attempting to poach AAP candidates with potential victory in sight.
The BJP has demanded that AAP retract its accusations and issue an apology, threatening legal action if not.
Vote counting began at 8 am, with early trends expected to emerge soon. According to the Election Commission, 60.54% of voters participated in the election on Wednesday.
