Delhi Metro train, has sadly passed away while receiving treatment at Safdarjung hospital. The incident had occurred at Inderlok Metro station on December 14th afternoon, according to a statement by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The DMRC has announced that the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety will conduct an inquiry into the incident.
The victim, identified as Reena, was traveling with her 11-year-old son at the time of the incident. In the incident, the 35-year-old's saree got entangled in the train doors of the Delhi Metro. She was dragged for several meters before falling onto the tracks, Times of India reported, citing Metro sources.
Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday.
The DMRC has stated that an inquiry will be conducted to determine the cause of the incident. CCTV footage, according to the report, suggests that the woman entered the coach and then turned back to retrieve her child who was left behind on the platform.
It is suspected that her saree got stuck in the door, resulting in her being pulled onto the platform as the train started moving. As the train left the station, the woman fell onto the tracks.
After the incident, the woman was reportedly taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, which refused her admission due to a lack of a ventilator.
Other hospitals also reportedly declined to admit her. She was finally admitted to Safdarjung Hospital where doctors described her condition as critical upon arrival.
Reena, who had been selling vegetables to support her family since her husband's death in 2014, leaves behind her 10-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter.
