Delhi: In the capital city, the Delhi Traffic Police has deployed 2,500 personnel to manage traffic, with a particular focus on key areas such as Connaught Place, Lajpat Nagar, Hauz Khas, and South Extension markets. An additional 250 teams will be dedicated to checking instances of drunken driving on New Year's Eve.
Connaught Place will be closed for the public from 8 pm on December 31, and only residents or those with a valid party entry pass will be allowed.
Air and rail travelers are recommended to carefully organize their travel arrangements.
Individuals traveling from south Delhi to New Delhi Railway Station are encouraged to take the route through Ram Manohar Lohiya Park Street, Jhandewalan, GPO, Kali Bari Marg, and Desh Bandhu Gupta Road.
It's noted that the Old Delhi Railway Station will remain unaffected.
On January 1, for those heading to India Gate, the traffic police have suggested utilizing public transportation due to limited parking space.
Mumbai: Mumbai Police have enforced Section 144 until January 18, along with other restrictions, including a ban on flying objects like drones, remote-controlled aircraft, and hot air balloons over the city for 30 days. police have also banned sale and use of fireworks in designated areas.
Liquor stores are authorized to remain open on New Year eve until 5 am on January 1, 2024, under police supervision.
Goa: In Goa, the police have formed special teams to combat the use of narcotic drugs during New Year celebrations.
