Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions has moved north-northeastwards and weakened into a well-marked low pressure area. This low pressure system is currently situated over northwest Uttar Pradesh and its surrounding areas. It is expected to weaken further into a low pressure area. The IMD has issued rainfall alerts for many states including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.
The flash flood risk is moderate to high over several areas due to anticipated rainfall, according to IMD. Areas at risk include:
Uttarakhand: Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Nainital, Pauri Garhwal, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri Garhwal, Udham Singh Nagar, and Uttarkashi districts.
Himachal Pradesh: Shimla and Sirmaur districts. There is a potential for surface runoff and inundation in fully saturated soils and low-lying areas, as depicted in the risk map, due to expected rainfall over the next 24 hours.
