US elections set to begin in a matter of days now, with the campaign having reached the last leg, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, both would be looking at staying away from controversy as much as they can. However, it looks like trouble does seem to find them at odd times, and this time it is Harris at the receiving end.
Kamala Harris co-authored a book nearly a decade ago, but now it has come back to haunt her, with an analysis by Austrian plagiarism hunter Stefan Weber being the basis of this sudden claim. However, this was brought to notice by a conservative activist Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, who has claimed that Harris used uncited sources to lift 'verbatim lines' for her writings.
This book was published in 2009, which means that it was way before Harris ever considered running for office. Interestingly, the post where Harris was reportedly outed, refers to six specific paragraphs from a 200-page book, where the reigning VP and Democrat candidate has been accused of not citing sources properly and using plagiarism.
No voter will like their choice of Presidential candidate to be dishonest from their fundamental, but these allegations are not yet proven, and no major reaction from Harris' team has been seen yet. Therefore, it cannot be said for certain what exactly the dispute is all about, or whether it is a ploy by the Republicans to get the last-minute upper-hand.
