Dil Chahta Hai actor Rakesh Pandey dies due to cardiac arrest
Rakesh Pandey, known for his impactful performances in Hindi and Bhojpuri cinema, passed away on March 21 at 8:50 am due to cardiac arrest. He was undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at Arogyanidhi Hospital in Juhu, Mumbai. The 77-year-old actor is survived by his wife, daughter Jasmeet, and granddaughter. His last rites were held on March 22 at Shastri Nagar crematorium.
Born on April 9, 1940, in Himachal Pradesh, Rakesh Pandey's acting journey began in 1969 with Sara Akash, where he portrayed the role of Samar. This debut set the stage for a prolific career spanning decades, with remarkable performances across multiple genres. He gained recognition for his role as Mangal in Mera Rakshak and also impressed audiences the same year with Darwaza. Some of his other notable films include Yehi Hai Zindagi, Woh Main Nahin, and Do Raha.
Beyond Bollywood, Pandey made a significant mark in Bhojpuri cinema with films like Balam Pardesiya and Bhaiya Dooj, showcasing his versatility.
