Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday rebuked Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg for spreading misinformation about the Lok Sabha elections held in 2024 when the billionaire entrepreneur incorrectly stated that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had lost.

“Mr. Zuckerberg’s claim that most incumbent governments, including India in 2024 elections, lost post-COVID is factually incorrect,” Vaishnaw said in a post on X.
The Meta CEO made this comment during his appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast published on Friday.
“2024 was a big election year around the world and all these countries, India, had elections. The incumbents basically lost every single one. There is some sort of global phenomenon — whether it was because of inflation or the economic policies to deal with Covid-19 or just how the governments dealt with it," he said during the three-hour-long podcast.
