Vice President JD Vance may not be his obvious successor for the 2028 US Presidential elections, and there could be a twist in the story. After the end of the US Presidential elections which was won by the Trump-Vance duo, the now VP was being thought of as the next candidate of the Republican Party in the 2028 US Presidential elections, but Trump has now cast a shadow of doubt on this.
According to an Independent US report, an interview with Fox News’s Bret Baier filmed ahead of Super Bowl Sunday saw Trump make an astonishing claim when asked if JD Vance could be the Republican nominee in 2028 and the billionaire President's successor.
Tump replied denying it but also admitting that Vance is quite capable of being a good candidate. However, Trump also said that there are a lot of capable candidates in the Party who could contest, but it is quite early to tell what may happen.
The statement by President Trump does not entirely isolate Vance from the political aspect, but will still keep hopes for his candidacy alive, but this could be considered as a slight setback, coming as a direct statement from a sitting President.
Who is the current Vice President of the US?
The current Vice President of the United States is JD Vance, who was sworn-in during the inauguration ceremony on January 20.
