King Abdullah II met Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday and informed the US President that his country is prepared to take in 2,000 Palestinian children, including those who are ill or suffering from cancer, from the war-torn Gaza region in the Middle East.
During the meeting, Trump advocated for his proposal for the US to take over the Gaza Strip, remove all Palestinians from the territory, and resettle them in Jordan and Egypt.
He suggested that this plan would allow for the transformation of the devastated coastal enclave into “the Riviera of the Middle East,” AFP reported.
In response to King Abdullah’s offer, the US President described it as a “beautiful gesture,” adding that he was “99 per cent” sure that a similar arrangement could be made with Egypt. “We'll have some others helping,” NBC News quoted Trump as saying.
Seated next to Trump in the Oval Office, King Abdullah emphasised the need for a plan that could satisfy all parties involved.
