Dragon Quest III HD-2D follows the journey of an unnamed hero. This hero is the child of Ortega, a warrior who died fighting the monster Baramos. On the hero’s sixteenth birthday, they take up the task of defeating Baramos. This is the same mission Ortega failed to complete. The game features a character class system where players can recruit party members and assign them specific jobs and abilities.
The turn-based combat system, a signature of the Dragon Quest series, remains unchanged. The game’s aesthetics have been updated with the HD-2D visual style. However, it’s still unknown if any new content will be added to this remake.
The Dragon Quest I-II HD-2D remake is scheduled to release in 2025. No specific date has been announced yet. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch. Like Dragon Quest III, the I-II remake is getting the HD-2D treatment, giving a fresh look to these classic titles.
