In a Joint Consultative Meeting of the ENPO, Federating Tribal Bodies, Frontal Organizations, Talk Team, and senior leaders held on February 23, 2024, at Chenmoho Village, Mon District, it was unanimously resolved «not to participate in any central and state elections» against the delay in settling the offer for the creation of Frontier Nagaland Territory by the Government of India through the Ministry of Home Affairs. Furthermore, the ENPO shall not accede to any assurances that may come up from the Ministry of Home Affairs to be implemented after the upcoming Parliamentary election process.
Recently, the Konyak Union (KU) of Nagaland declared a ‘public emergency’ due to the Centre’s delay in settling its offer for the creation of ‘Frontier Nagaland Territory’.
In line with the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) declaration of a “public emergency,” the Konyak Union (KU) and Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC) have declared a ‘public emergency’ in their respective jurisdictions with immediate effect.
ENPO and the Government of India have held bipartite talks. Earlier, ENPO announced that it had accepted the proposal of the Government of India for the formation of a Frontier Naga Territory (FNT) with legislative, executive, administrative, and financial autonomy. “Considering the sentiments of our Naga brothers and sisters towards unity and togetherness,” the ENPO said, it accepted the proposal “without insisting on dividing the Nagaland State.”
