Maris left Janus Henderson in July where he had worked since 2011 and was most recently head of equities, Americas for six years.

At the time, Janus Henderson said Maris was leaving the firm because Maris «has decided that now is the right time for him to leave the firm to pursue other opportunities».
In his new role, Maris will be responsible for overlooking Principal's equities platform, as well as managing 126 investment professionals across the world.
Maris will also serve as a named portfolio manager on the company's equity strategies.
