With the marathon election battle reaching its final stage, the last round of polling is set to take place in the south-eastern region, which is dominated by OBCs, Dalits, and significantly influenced by the Modi-Yogi factor. The bustling political activities reflect a high-stakes contest leading up to the decisive day, ToI's report (by Rajiv Srivastava) said.
Amit Shah, the BJP's strategic mastermind, has managed to secure the support of two influential leaders from Ballia, namely former minister Narad Rai and Ram Iqbal Singh. This move aims to bolster BJP candidate Neeraj Shekhar's prospects. The 13 constituencies heading to the polls primarily fall under the influential zones of PM Narendra Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath.
These constituencies are predominantly inhabited by OBCs such as Yadavs, Kurmis, Nishads, Kushwahas, Rajbhars, Nonias, alongside significant populations of Brahmins, Thakurs, and Bhumihars. Notably, this is the only phase where Bhumihar votes are significant and have historically influenced people's representatives of their caste. To comprehend the dynamics of this phase, it’s essential to look at the voting patterns observed in the previous six phases.
