The village panchayat secretary filed a report on Thursday accusing the village head Omvati, her husband Roop Kishore, shed caretaker Kalu, and tractor driver Nem Singh of animal cruelty. Legal action has been taken under the Cruelty to Animals Act.
Circle Officer Anuj Kumar confirmed, «A case has been registered against village head Omvati, her husband Roop Kishore, shed caretaker Kalu, and tractor driver Nem Singh.»
Upon investigation, Chief Veterinary Officer found the cow to be sick and heavy, and it was being transported for treatment. The district magistrate took immediate notice, resulting in the registration of the case.
Chief Development Officer Gorakh Nath Bhatt stated, «The district magistrate took immediate cognisance of the matter and a case was registered against four people.»
