Kaju Katli, hold a cherished place in the heart of Diwali festivities. However, this year, a renowned coffee chain has opted for a unique culinary approach, sparking a blend of reactions within the community.
Tim Hortons, a multinational coffeehouse and restaurant chain based in Canada, has unveiled a novel range of donuts inspired by classic Indian sweets, just in time for Diwali.
The special menu boasts creations such as the Jalebi Cheesecake Donut, Caramel Pistachios Donut, and Choco Chikki Donut, each priced at Rs. 185.
Shared on social media by @lilcosmicowgirl, the fusion of Western and Indian dessert influences sparked conversations online.
Tim Hortons had previously provided a sneak peek of the special launch on Instagram, stating, “Get ready for a donut delight! Our Diwali stars — Choco Chikki, Jalebi Cheesecake, and Caramel Pistachio — are here to dazzle your taste buds.”
Nevertheless, the reception to this culinary amalgamation has been diverse. While some applaud the inventive merging of flavours, others perceive it as a form of cultural appropriation.
