Bengaluru, an auto driver took up the challenge of helping a passenger catch a missed train at the next stop. As per a TOI report, Adil Hussain had missed his train, the Prashanti Express, which was scheduled to depart from SBC station at 1:40 PM. Due to work commitments and heavy traffic, he was unable to board the train on time and it left the station before he could reach there.
However, a helpful auto driver came to his rescue.
The distance between the starting point (SBC station) and the destination (Yelahanka junction) is approximately 15.4 km. However, during peak traffic hours in Bengaluru, it usually takes around 45 minutes to an hour to cover this distance. The auto driver approached Adil and offered to assist him in boarding the train at the next station.
By that time, it was already 1:50 PM, and the train was scheduled to arrive at Yelahanka station at 2:20 PM.
The auto driver quoted a fare of Rs 2,500 for two passengers but asked them to pay only if they were able to reach the station in time for the train's arrival. Adil recalls, «For the next 25 minutes, we experienced the most thrilling auto ride. The driver maneuvered through traffic, taking shortcuts whenever possible.
He even signaled to his friends, who were also trying to catch the train, to let them pass.»
Remarkably, they managed to reach the Yelahanka station by 2:15 PM, with five minutes to spare before the train's arrival. Adil claims that this particular auto driver waits at the SBC station for passengers like him who are running late for their train. He then challenges himself to reach the next stop before the train, earning Rs 2,500 per trip.
