In Maharashtra, state authorities have declared holiday for all schools and colleges in Raigad district till Thursday amid the 'red alert' issued by the weather department. Last week, following incessant rainfall, a landslide struck a village situated on a hill slope in Khalapur tehsil, Raigad district, resulting in deaths of many people.
The Meteorological Department has issued a 'red' alert for the district. The weather department noted that Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudrug, Pune, Kolhapur and Satara districts will receive heavy to heavy rainfall till July 27. In Karnataka, following a flash-flood warning in some parts of coastal and north interior parts of the state, authorities have declared a holiday for Wednesday in all the schools and colleges in the vulnerable regions.

The Government has reviewed the risk prone areas and is well prepared to tackle the issues on ground.
