In a bid to ensure the security of the G20 Summit in Delhi, insiders have revealed that a discreet measure, "House Intervention Teams" (HIT squads), will be stationed within city hotels housing G20 delegates. The primary objective of these teams will be to address potential hostage crises that might emerge during the summit.
Sources have indicated that these HIT squads will be summoned into action only under the most dire circumstances, following specific orders from the highest echelons of authority.
Crucially, these squads will be armed with kill orders, underscoring the seriousness with which any potential hostage situation is being treated. The personnel assigned to these squads comprise skilled commandos hailing from both the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Delhi Police.
These individuals are trained to operate in confined urban spaces and navigate built-up areas, and they possess the expertise necessary to combat threats arising from acts of terrorism.
An official familiar with the developments clarified that these commandos specialize in house intervention tactics. They are equipped to infiltrate enclosed spaces, eliminate potential threats posed by terrorists, and ensure the safe rescue of hostages.
Notably, the HIT squads will operate independently from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams stationed outside the hotels, tasked with addressing threats on the streets.
Describing the significance of these teams, a senior intelligence officer explained that they constitute a critical component of the G20 security framework. The HIT squads will be strategically positioned within each hotel hosting delegates, prepared to respond swiftly to hostage situations or even lone-wolf attacks.
