Godfrey Phillips India, one of the leading tobacco and FMCG companies in India, announced on Thursday the appointment of Siddharth Chawla as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), to be effective from January 7, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date.

The appointment follows the recommendations of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and is in line with the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its senior management team, said the FMCG major in an exchange filing.
Chawla will bring with him nearly 24 years of experience, having held senior management and cross-functional leadership roles across multiple industries. He began his career in 2001 with FMCG giant ITC as a management trainee and rose to the position of Business Head for North India, a role he held until his departure in 2019.
Following his tenure at ITC, Chawla served as the Business Head for Non-Essentials at the e-commerce unicorn Udaan for three years. More recently, he was the Chief Growth Officer at Pharmarack Technologies, India's largest e-B2B commerce platform in the pharmaceutical sector, where he has worked for the past two years.
Throughout his career, Chawla has demonstrated a proven ability to develop and execute go-to-market strategies, establish new business systems and supply chain networks, and launch new product categories
