Amazon Prime Video's new adaptation of Harlan Coben's mystery novel, Shelter, is set to premiere on Friday. The show centers around teenager Mickey Bolitar, who relocates to Kasselton, New Jersey, to live with his aunt after his father's sudden passing. The series consists of eight episodes and stars Jaden Michael in the lead role. It brings to life the first book from Coben's widely read young adult series. This collaboration marks Harlan's debut with Amazon Prime Video, having previously seen his works like Safe, The Stranger, and Stay Close adapted for Netflix.

The narrative follows high school junior Mickey Bolitar, whose life is marked by tragedy as he loses his father in a car accident. Moving in with his aunt, he soon gets drawn into the puzzling vanishing of a fellow student named Ashley Kent. The investigation exposes hidden truths within their seemingly serene neighborhood. With the support of his friends, inventive Spoon and enigmatic Ema, Mickey unearths a concealed underbelly in Kasselton. This darkness could hold answers to decades-old mysteries, including those of disappearances, deaths, and local legends, perhaps even his own family's tangled past.

Author Harlan Coben serves as an executive producer. The series is co-produced by MGM International Television Productions and Amazon Studios. The leading role of Mickey Bolitar is portrayed by Jaden Michael, while Constance Zimmer takes on the role of Mickey's aunt, Shira Bolitar. Notable cast members include Adrian Greensmith and Abby Corrigan as Mickey's friends, Arthur 'Spoon' Spindell and Ema Winslow, respectively. The ensemble is rounded out by Tovah Feldshuh, Sage Linder, and Brian Altemus.
