Nuh chowk as around 80 vehicles and bikes carrying participants of the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra were prevented from advancing towards a Shiv temple in Nalhar. The clash resulted in the tragic deaths of two homeguards and left many others injured. Organized jointly by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal, and Matrishakti Durgavahini, the yatra procession, consisting of approximately 2,000 people, was flagged off from Gurgaon's Civil Lines and was in its third year.
As per a ToI report, Monu Manesar, a wanted Bajrang Dal member implicated in a double murder case, may have been present in one of the cars in the procession. Some participants were allegedly carrying swords and sticks, and most vehicles displayed 'gau rakshak' stickers. Monu, who is wanted by Rajasthan Police in a double murder case, posted a video on social media on Sunday stating he will participate in the yatra and urging others to do the same.
As a result, several Nuh organizations warned of «consequences» if Monu was present. While several people claimed to have «spotted» Monu in one of the automobiles on Monday, police sources told ToI that he wasn't there. Despite the presence of a sizable police force, it proved to be insufficient as they were outnumbered after the clash erupted.
The situation escalated quickly, with the yatra participants being attacked with stones, petrol bombs, and sticks. The clash lasted around three hours, during which several police vehicles, a schoolbus, and shops were set on fire, leading to widespread damage and chaos in the area. Hundreds sought refuge at the Shiv temple while additional police forces from neighboring districts were called in to control the situation. Here is how the violence erupted:10 am: Thousands
