Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded in the «severe» category. The minimum temperature was 15.9°C, which is 1.8°C above the seasonal average, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
At 9 am, the AQI reached 429, according to the 'Sameer App', which provides hourly updates from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). On Saturday, the 24-hour average AQI had been 417 at 4 pm.
AQI readings are categorised as follows: 0-50 (good), 51-100 (satisfactory), 101-200 (moderate), 201-300 (poor), 301-400 (very poor), and 401-500 (severe).
The weather department has predicted moderate fog during the morning and night, with daytime temperatures likely to peak around 30°C. At 8:30 am, humidity levels were recorded at a high 94 per cent.
With pollution reaching alarming levels, the central pollution watchdog imposed restrictions under the third stage of the GRAP in Delhi-NCR on Thursday, including a ban on construction and demolition activities.
