Hospitality sector gets its mojo back after Covid lull as jobs zoom 271%

Apprentice & trainee hires have seen a rise of 54 per cent CAGR in the last two years, as per TeamLease. Hiring in the hospitality sector rose by around 271 per cent in the same period, the report said.

More skilled jobs at higher levels have also seen a 8-10% surge while the rest of the hospitality hire spectrum is up 18-20%.”
The tourism and hospitality sector has increased its share of all apprentices enrolled in India by 5.4 times in the last two years (from 0.4 per cent in 2020–21 to 2.4 per cent in 2022-23). The increase is greatest at the entry-level.
As per hoteliers, this is a signal of hospitality getting its mojo back. “The surge in hiring in the organised hotel sector observed in CY23 is indicative of the sector’s resilience, growth potential, and strategic expansion. The underlying fundamentals and emerging trends suggest a positive outlook for the sector, with the momentum expected to continue into CY24,” Sabu Raghavan, VP (HR), Hilton India, said.
