D-day for Delhi: Top newsmaking moments
With cracks in the INDIA bloc widening, the split between Congress and AAP has now significantly impacted AAP’s prospects in Delhi. The decision to contest the elections separately has proven costly, particularly in closely contested seats.
In Delhi Cantt, AAP’s Virender Singh Kadian trailed BJP’s Bhuvan Tanwar by a narrow margin of just 300 votes. Meanwhile, Congress secured 1,912 votes—support that could have been crucial for AAP.
Even AAP's biggest hope, Arvind Kejriwal, faced an early setback, trailing in the initial hours of vote counting. If AAP and Congress had contested together, Sandeep Dikshit's votes could have placed Kejriwal in a more comfortable position.
A similar trend was observed in key constituencies like Badli, Nangloi Jat, Madipur, Rohini, and Dwarka, among others. AAP could have secured a stronger standing had it not withdrawn from the Lok Sabha election pact with Congress.
