Thread will soon replace Twitter, its rival? Not exactly. Though Thread is doing one or two things better than its rivals, many people believe that it is still evolving itself and it is too early to say that it will replace its rival in the near future. Though they claim to perform similar functions and these two apps are similar in many aspects, there are many differences between the two.
Thread is connected to Instagram and one wants to log in, Thread asks if it can use its Instagram credentials. But Twitter is not connected to any other app and it does not use the credentials stored with another app. Similarly, if you want to delete your Thread account, you will have to delete your Instagram account as well.
But Twitter is autonomous and you can delete it without thinking about another app. Of course, you can deactivate your Thread account and it will hide your posts and profile until you reactivate the account. Twitter was launched as a website and it still maintains the website.
It adapted to app-based versions of iOS and Android, but the website is still there. So, it gives you the flexibility of platforms, it can be used on smartphones as well as computers. But Thread has no such flexibility, it is app-based and can be downloaded from iOS and Android app stores.
Thus, it can be accessed only on a smartphone. Thread is free of cost, it can be downloaded free, and there are no hidden features behind the paywall. Also, it has no advertisement, but it can change later.
Twitter has advertisements. There are many features that are reserved for those who get ‘Twitter Blue’ by paying USD 8 per month or USD 84 per year. The features reserved for this category of users keep on changing.
