Through a bombshell email, disgruntled parents of the girl group New Jeans have now accused HYBE CEO of mistreatment of its members.
On Monday, Ilgan Sports dropped a scathing expose of the K-pop giant’s alleged abuse of idols. The report cited an email which had been signed by New Jeans members parents, which accused HYBE and its subsidiary BELIFT LAB of deliberately plagiarising New Jeans. The email was originally sent to Min Hee Jin, who later forwarded it to BELIFT LAB.
“We find that it’s unfortunate that the recent girl group that debuted under a HYBE label has caused controversy over plagiarizing NewJeans. We feel that the similarities were intentionally made by HYBE and BELIFT LAB. Not only this, I think it’s a greater issue that they are marketing the new group (ILLIT) by making comparisons to NewJeans. Did ADOR give permission for the group to copy their choreography? These acts will hurt NewJeans’ value and reputation…” read the letter.
The parents also alleged that due to the formation of a new girl group with a similar aesthetic barely 20 months after their debut harmed New Jeans brand value. They also claimed that HYBE CEO Bang Si Hyuk would ignore members whenever they approached him.
“Whenever the NewJeans
