Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan also claimed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar would be appointed as the state's chief minister replacing Eknath Shinde on 10 August. However, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis dismissed the Congress leader's claim and said that Eknath Shinde will continue to be the CM of Maha Yuti. Last year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined hands with Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena to form the Maharashtra government and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
