Delhi and many parts of West Uttar Pradesh, as well as some parts of Punjab, have also experienced heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring between 43-45°C. These temperatures were significantly above normal by 4-7°C in many parts of Northwest and East India, and north Madhya Pradesh. Warm night conditions were noted in isolated pockets of East Madhya Pradesh and North Rajasthan. The highest temperature recorded was 45.1°C in Kanpur (east Uttar Pradesh) on Wednesday.
A fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra over the next five days, according to IMD. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also anticipated to continue over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Assam-Meghalaya for the next two days, followed by isolated heavy rainfall. Recent heavy to very heavy rainfall has been observed in isolated places across Tamil Nadu, Konkan & Goa, Assam & Meghalaya, and Uttarakhand, with heavy rainfall also occurring in isolated areas of Kerala, Telangana, Gujarat region, Bihar, and East Madhya Pradesh.
The Southwest Monsoon, according to IMD, has progressed further, reaching additional parts of Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Northwest Bay of Bengal, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and some parts of Bihar.
