India AI mission: Govt opens second round of bids for AI development projects
ethical AI framework, AI risk assessment and management, stress testing tools among others.
The deadline to apply for bids is January 9.
In the earlier round, the government had floated bids seeking interest from Indian academic institutes, research and development organisations, companies and startups working in the field of machine unlearning, synthetic data generation, AI bias mitigation, privacy-enhancing tools, explainable AI, AI governance testing, AI ethical certification and algorithm auditing tools.
These bids are being launched under the India AI mission. The Rs 10,372 crore India AI Mission, an initiative of the IT ministry, was launched in July last year and aims to create compute capacity of up to 10,000 graphic processing units (GPUs), develop AI applications in critical sectors, and address problems raised by central and state governments as well as government-run institutions.
Earlier in the day, the government informed the Rajya Sabha that it intends to spend Rs 4563 crore to develop compute capacity of 10,000 or more graphics processing units under the India AI Mission, whereas it plans to spend Rs 1971 crore for the new IndiaAI innovation centre.
