Speaking at an event in Delhi, the EAM stressed on the fact that India is a first-responder when its counterparts around the world need its help. However, he added, that New Delhi has miles to go to revamp itself from the mistakes of the past, in order to become a 'multigenerational foreign policy following nation'.
'We're a player the world turns to, even if we're bashful at times. The idea of India as a first responder, I can predict, will only get stronger," said Jaishankar.
The External Affairs Minister noted that India has had its fair-share of hiccups in the past few decades, but that New Delhi is working towards coming out of those.
On India being in a sort of 'defensive crouch', the EAM admitted that the era of that perception is behind the country.
