3D modelling, according to a report by venture capital firm Blume Ventures and research firm Treemouse released on Wednesday.
The term extended reality (XR) covers virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and other technologies. It merges the real and virtual worlds, providing users an immersive experience.
The report, titled ‘Accelerating India's Potential to Address the Global XR Opportunity’ which is supported by Meta, said Indian XR startups are evolving to develop global solutions, with 76% of those surveyed serving both domestic and international clients.
Joseph Sebastian, AVP at Blume Ventures, said it is time for India to embrace the paradigm shift and unleash the power of XR.
“We are already seeing a set of companies coming out of India already that have built world-class products. We are keen to shine a light on the latest developments in the sector from an Indian context,” he told ET.
“The report is the first step to create awareness about the sector, to create excitement and also to bring to light the fact that there are already quite a bit of companies that are building for Indian XR and are already successful and there are domains which are well suited for this technology,” he added.
The report shows that XR is gaining traction in the gaming industry, extending its reach into various sectors, including entertainment, education, health, and wellness.
