

Indians still prefer to use cards during international travel: report
credit cards, debit cards and prepaid travel cards, found a survey conducted by card payment major Visa.
The survey also found that around 10-12% of the respondents still use currency exchange, which means while using their cards they use cash too.

Visa did not disclose the profile of the respondents.
One third of the users who gave a reason for using the card said that they were comforted by the fact that they had access to control the card through their apps.
Use of cards also allows them to keep a track of their expenses, be the travel first nature of a lot of the rewards and benefits like airline miles, hotel points potentially linked to these cards and access to airport lounges, the report said.
Interestingly, Indians who are still not major users of contactless payments in the country pay via touch when they are traveling outside the country.
“The security offered by a trusted brand’s card, and the convenience of the widest global acceptance remain paramount, effectively removing complexities associated with exchanging and carrying the foreign currency,” said Sridhar Keppurengan, business head of cross border payments, India and South Asia, Visa.
