In the realm of gift-giving, roses emerged as the undisputed champion in 2023, with FNP delivering an impressive 11.5 million stems, equivalent to 23 roses every minute.
Mumbai, Delhi, and Chandigarh led the charge in floral expressions, symbolising the universal language of heartfelt gestures.
Not far behind, cakes secured the second spot in the preferred gifting category, with over 7 million cakes sold—an average of 11 cakes delivered every minute.
Truffle, chocolate, pineapple, butterscotch, and black forest cakes were among the most favoured choices. Notably, dry fruit cakes witnessed a resurgence, experiencing a 30 per cent surge leading up to Christmas.
Delving into regional nuances, Patna, Ranchi, and Bhubaneshwar embraced the sweetness of cakes and chocolates, comprising a staggering 40 per cent of gifts.
Meanwhile, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai flourished with the gift of greenery, choosing potted plants as their preferred option.
In a heartening shift towards conscious consumerism, the report highlights a 60 per cent increase in the purchase of gift hampers. Health-focused and cosmetic hampers took centre stage, while sustainable gifting witnessed a 15 per cent surge.
Plantable rakhis, upcycled plant pots, seed paper-based cards, bookmarks, fashion accessories, and salvaged metal gifts gained popularity, signalling a growing preference for eco-friendly options.
