The kidnapping and murder of Kaur involved a disturbing level of cruelty, as described by Prosecutor Carmen Matteo. "She had to have been consciously suffering what could only be described as the absolute terror of breathing in and swallowing soil and dying in that way," Carmen Matteo said.

Kaur's body was found blindfolded and with her limbs bound using cable ties and gaffer tape in the Flinders Ranges. The court condemned the heinous act, highlighting the conscious suffering and terror that Kaur endured while being buried alive, reported 9News.
